TYPES OF ATI-ATI

Ati-ati is a plant that originated from Afrika, Asia, Australia, Hindia Timur dan Filipina. In Malaysia, it is known with the name of ati-ati merah because of its leaf colour. The colour for ati-ati merah is red. It comes from Libiateae family. The scientific name of this plant is Coleus blumei.

This herb is shrub and comes with various colours of its leaves. The colour of the leaves depends on how much the leaf receives the sunlight. It comes with the colour of leaves that are purple, green and mixed red and green. Ati-ati merah can easily plant because it is easily to growth. This plant is leafy and can growth on the soil. This herb has soft stem and easily broke if take it. Normally, this herb is planted at the yard of the house. It becomes the ornamental plant because of the colours of the leaves and its height. It can reach one metre height. The shape of the leaves is look like a heart and has crenate at the side of the leaves. It also has a sweet aroma.

This herb can cure many diseases such as heart attack, boil, ear pain, stomach ache, chest pain, fewer and ulcer. People can use all parts of the herbs to cure the disease. There are two parts that are used because it is effective in curing the disease.
 

          a. The plant – People can use its leaf in order to treat heart

                           attack, fewer and stomach ache. Firstly, we need to  

                           boil its leaves and wait until the water is one over

                           three. Then, we need to remove the leaves and  

                           take the water. When the water is cool, it is ready  

                           to be drink.

          b.  Leaf – This part is suitable to cure the blotch. For the blotch,  

                       mix the leaves with a little water. Then, put the mixture  

                       on the boil. The leaves can also be used to treat the

                       wound. Mix the leaves with a lot of water, do not make  

                       it too dilute. After that, wash the wound with that water.

                       Besides, to cure the ear pain, just point a few of the

                       water into the ear. The function is to wash inside the ear.

This herb is easy to plant. People just need a pot, soil, water and enough sunlight. Ati-ati does need a lot of water. People can put the soil in the pot. Then, cut the stem and plant it in to the soil. Water the plant appropriately.
