NECESSITIES IN HERB

There are few tips before planting the herb. We need to make sure and know several aspects such as light, soil, fertilizer, pest controls and water.

Light

Light is important in planting plants. The herb needs to be exposing to sunlight at least four hours a day. The sunlight must be direct to the herb. It is important for them to produce an aromatic aroma and flavour. But, we must careful because not all the herb needs direct sunlight. Some herbs need to grow under a shady place. This kind of herb must not be exposed to the windy climate.

Soil and fertilizer​
 

The soil is also an important role in planting the herb. The soil needs the neutral pH which is average pH 6 to 7. The herb must have a good drainage. That means the water needs to be flow around the soil. When the water is stagnant in the pot, the root of the herb may rot. ​

Pest control

Normally, the herb is not affected by insects and pests because the plant has essential oils that give aroma and flavour. The pests do not like this aroma and they will not near to the plant.​

Water​
 

Water also plays an important besides soil. Do not overwater the young herbs because they may wilt. So, at first we need to water the herb at average amount of water.​

HOW TO PLANT THE HERB?



I want to share with you a tip how to plant the herb. You need a pot, soil, an herb plant, pieces of pot, a spatula, a folk and a scissor.

1. Take the pot and the pieces of pot. Then, arrange the pieces of pot in the pot. Do not put them too much. That means you need to put the pieces about quarter of the pot. But, you need to careful during arranging. Avoid from covering the holes at the bottom of the pot. It is important for the herb for its ventilation and provides the herb with good drainage.

2. Put the mixture of soil into the pot. Put it half from the pot. The soil has been covered with soil, organic matter, sand and fertilizer with the ratio of 3:2:1. Next, smooth the soil using the spatula. But, you need to remember by do not compact the soil in the pot. You need to give ventilation for the soil.

3. Take the herb plant. Then, cut the container bag carefully. We need to make sure that the soil does not break during the process because it may wound the roots. So, it is important process in order to grow the herb.

4. Make a hole at the middle of the soil using the spatula. Do not dig the soil too deep because the herb needs to plant one over tree. The other parts must expose to the surrounding. Then, put the herb in the soil and makes it stands upright.

5.  Put the soil around the hole. Then, water the herb. This is important step when we need to water at the average water. That means we need to plant until we can see the water can flow through the hole at the bottom of the pot.

6. This is the suggestion for the young herb. Put the herb under a shady place for a week to make it suitable and can adapt to the soil and surrounding. After a week, the new shoot starts to grow. This is the time when you can change the place of the herb. Put the herb at the permanent place that enough of sunlight, water and fertilizer.
